TÁBOR SCHOOL CANTEEN REVIEW

Last week I had a great opportunity to visit a pure, absolutely typical Czech school mensa. As many of you probably know, Tábor is not a big city (while Prague IS!), so the quality of food was even worse than in normal school canteen here in Czechia. Unfortunately, I was not prepared any vegan dish, as I thought the organisators would tell to the women in the kitchen what kind of person I am. They did not tell anyone anything, so I ate a half of the meal. Why?
It was a Hamburg roasted meat that day, with dumplings and sauce. I neither got the meat (if it was meat! Other visitors around did not seem to enjoy eating it, unlike the children, who seemed to be comfortable and cheerful.) nor the sauce. But I had dumplings! And I have to admit that I am a big hater of all typical Czech dumplings, so I was totally desperate, thinking about death caused by serious starving. Finally, I ate not only dumplings, but I drunk an exceptional "aspartam tea". (This is what I call all of those sweet rubbish drinks that you usually got in the school canteen.)
Hah! I have to notice here, that the dumplings were absolutly disgusting.
I have to admit that I feel very sorry for all those poor children from Tabor. They have to eat every day in such an awful place (it looks like a factory) and, additionaly, they have to eat such a gook. Sorry to all those who like the food like this, I think that it is a way how to turture inocent children...
On the other hand, this visit has its benefits as well. I realized that I am proud that I am from Prague, and I found out that the life in Prague is much easier than in the other places in the Czech republic...

Rating:

Food itself: 1/10
Vegetarian/ vegan/ vitarian? :) dishes: 0/10
Staff (in this case cooks): 8/10 (they could not belive their eyes that I did not    want sauce or meat)
The place itself: 1/10 (HORRIBLE!!!)
Summary: 2.5/10 (That means "this place is better not to visit, it is dangerous for your health!")

MY RAW MONDAYS 30.4.2012

This time it was a yellow sweet melon (sorry, I do not know how it is called in English - and I am too lazy to switch up to a dictionary) that I had for breakfast. I ate almost whole one, one quarter stayed left. The magic of my "raw Mondays" is in the school. When you are working whole day, you don't think much like "I have not eaten anything boiled, what shall I do now?". In the school, I usually eat a lot of nuts and dried fruit. Mostly cashew nuts, pecans or almonds, but sometimes, when I do not have anything else - you know... And, I have forgotten - apples, I like to eat apples in the morning, so this was what I have eaten before lunch. I have tried a fruit salad for lunch before, but it was probably too sour (or I do not know, simply, I did not feel well after finishing this meal). So I started eating vegetable salads for lunch and, hallelujah, it is better. Actually, much more better. In the afternoon, shortly after I came from the school, I made myself a bowlful of "fruit soup". That means, that I mashed the rest of sweet melon together with strawberries, raspberries and bananas, gave there a little water and coconut and finally topped with sunflower seeds. As it was very hot that day, this afternoon meal was very refreshing for me. I ate some grapes then (just because I needed something sweet) together with a spoon of chocolate cream by Tereza from Lifefood ;). In the evening I wanted something salty so I mashed avocado with sesam oil and some sesam seeds, gave there a little dried onion, salt and tamari. I ate it together with carrot crackers (also by Lifefood) and daterrini tomatoes. Here are some pictures I took shortly before the food was gone :))).
